There has been an anchor and a propeller in front of the North Zone entry gate since 1998, as this is where the Cross-Century Project was implemented. These two marine items imply our determination to be firm with our development strategy and objectives, and prepared for the long journey ahead.  
Background: The North Zone site was formerly a vessel demolition yard that was acquired by Shagang in October 1991. Many and various facilities were built in this area along the Yangzi River, like the stainless steel project, a joint venture with Posco; heavy duty docks for large ocean-going vessels, etc. In 1998, Shagang boldly decided to implement the Cross-Century Project, initiating a series of production expansion projects in the North Zone, on the banks of the Yangzi River bank.
